"What is a Friend" Analysis
In this discussion, we explored the true nature and purpose of friendship, questioning whether modern relationships, often based on emotions, are sustainable compared to those rooted in purpose and mutual contribution. Historically, friendships were survival-driven, formed for mutual benefit and collective progress. Today, however, they tend to center on emotional exchange, which can lead to instability or stagnation if unbalanced.
We also examined how meaningful friendships are inherently transactional, requiring some form of exchange—be it emotional, practical, or intellectual—to thrive. High contributors to society often attract a lasting network of purposeful friends, reinforcing growth and collaboration. By adopting a community mindset and focusing on reciprocity and shared goals, friendships can evolve from fleeting emotional bonds to sustainable, impactful relationships that benefit both individuals and the broader community.
